Can you tell us how you met each other?
We met second year at High school when Sara Linnea started the same class. During that year we got to know each other better and after half a year I asked Sara Linnea to be my girlfriend.
What is your engagement story?
I propose in the same room we had our first kiss. It was during the 17th of May 2013, which is the Norwegian independence day. So we where all dressed up for this celebration. Then I surprised Sara Linnea by bringing her to this special room and I went down on one knee and asked her to marry me.
What means marriage to you?
Marriage means more than just the happy moments and those happy feelings we get by being in love with the other person. I have experienced that to choose to love my husband through easy and tough times. The love we have for each other gets so much stronger and deeper. Choosing to marry my husband was a declaration of love that was so strong, powerful and meaningful for me. As well marriage is a holy act before God and meant so much to us.
We celebrated our day at a place outside Stavanger city among beautiful fields, close to the sea. It was such a romantic location. At this location our wedding guests could stay next door. Also the staff was very helpful. The locations was so lovely and the view from where we spent a lot of time during the day was mind blowing, the view was so beautiful overlooking the ocean.
During preparation for the wedding I was using Pinterest and Instagram a lot in search for some inspiration. After a lot of thinking we decided to go for a wedding with colorful flowers, decorations such as pompoms, pennants and other details with lots of colorful candy and water dispensers made of glass. As well we wanted a little elegance which was created by choosing a beautiful hotel, tuxedo and the wedding dress. We wanted to create an environment were people felt relaxed, enjoyed talking with other guests and also liked hearing the speeches.
Suzanne van der Knijff was our photographer and did an amazing job! We are so grateful for the fantastic work she did with capturing our special day. We loved how much effort she did and the lovely way she treated us. We loved all the photos she took that day, the details such as capturing the bouquet, the beautiful view, capturing lovely pictures of our friends and family and other details and special moments. Also we received amazing photos taken of us, and there were so many different types of pictures taken, we are so thankful for the great job she did. We already have decorated our home with lots of her fantastic photos.
Erwin van de Zande was the videographer of our wedding which captured some pretty astonishing moments of our wedding day. Before we talked to Erwin we had seen some of his weddingfilms on the internet and we loved the way he captured all the details, the way he chooses beautiful music to his films and how perfect everything was fitting together. When we received our weddingfilm we were totally blown away. We felt that he somehow managed to recreate how we experienced our weddingday. We loved everything about it and every detail he put into it. It’s quite impressive work he did and we were so grateful.
When I walked down the aisle song: Bridal March – Jonathan Cain
After ceremony song: L-O-V-E – Nat King Cole
First dance: “Tri Orisky Pro Popelku”, then we had a remix and danced with some other songs as well.
A memorable moment
Our favorite memory from the wedding is of course when we gave each other our vows and the promise to spend our life together. This was a very special moment and moving for both of us. We are also incredible lucky that we got to spend the day with our closest family and friends, which meant a lot to us.
For our honeymoon we went to Sicily in Italy. We spent a week in city called Taormina which was a romantic city with delicious food and Italian gelato. We enjoyed the beautiful streets here, the beach and we really recommend spending a few days in Taormina if you are in Sicily.
One thing I whish I knew before I started my weddingplans:
One thing I wish I knew before I started my weddingplans is that Pinterest have a lot of good inspiration, but don’t use to much energy to look for inspiration. Maybe it’s smart to choose a theme that follows throughout the wedding that makes it easier than make all different decisions.
What is your advice for a couple with wedding plans?
Our best advice would be to get a lot done before the wedding day and don’t dwell to long making decisions. One week before our wedding there were only a few things left to plan, which gave us time to relax a bit before the big day, so when the day came we were both able to enjoy every moment.
An other advice could be to ask family and friends to help out in different ways at the wedding, such as bake a cake or control the music etc. This gives you more time to enjoy your wedding.
